PARKERSBURG - Cabell Midland rolled to the boys team title Thursday in the Kim Nutter Classic track and field meet at Stadium Field.
Saffiyah Mitchell from Huntington High was the girls high-point winner with 30.5. She was first in the 100 (12.96), 100 hurdles (15.17) and 200 (26.83). Cabell Midland's boys compiled 149 points to finish ahead of Parkersburg with 105, Wheeling Park (84), Hurricane (70) and Huntington High (54). Daniel Jarrell of the Knights was first in the 400 with a time of 50.77 seconds and joined with Jeremiah Parlock, Will Sheils and Nick Salmons to win the 4x400 relay (3:34.32). Parlock won the 1,600 (4:28.37), Sheils placed first in the 800 (2:00.80) and Coy Smith took first in the 3,200 (10:03.07). Cabell Midland also won the 4x200 and 4x800 relays. Caperton Humphrey, Josh Ellis, Michael Otte and Ivan Vaughn won the 4x200 (1:36.97) while Smith, Jonathan Hathaway, Andrew Short and Austin Jordan ran first in the 4x800 (8:41.07). Huntington High thrower Hunter Ashley was first in the discus (156-5). Marshall University football recruit Cody Mitchell from Point Pleasant won the shot put (49-9.75). Hurricane had wins by James McDougale in the 100 (11.71) and 200 (22.79). Girls team winner Parkersburg logged 137 points to finish ahead of Parkersburg South (78.5), Huntington High (72) and Hurricane (66). Huntington High's Julia Bolling won the long jump (16-10.25).
