The Midland girls have made a gradual improvement all season, but today was a bigger jump in the right direction. The girls would finish 3rd overall, but only would be 2 points back of Hurricane and 9 points from overall team Champion, Parkersburg. Jorden Thornton continues to be consistent for the Lady Knights coming in 2nd overall earning All MSAC honors. She would do a quick warm down and off to Charleston for a varsity soccer game. Joining Thornton on the 1st team were Alex Ellis and Kelsey Dillon finishing 7th and 8th overall. Clara Stephens would finish a solid 13th overall earning 2nd team All MSAC. Rounding out Midland's top 7 would be Abby Triplett, Jorden Colliflower, and Morgan Chittum. Also competing for the Lady Knights were Casey Ellis, Shelby Nelson, Jamie Shussler, Hannah Asebes, Jess Hutchinson, and Laken Adkins. The girls will face off again with Parkersburg and Hurricane next week at the Region IV Championship at the Teays Valley Wave Park in Hurricane. The meet serves as the WV State Championship qualifier. The meet will be Thursday (October 21st) with the girls race at 4:30pm followed by the boys race at 5:15pm. Midland Boys Dominate MSAC's
With just over 2 weeks until the WV State Cross Country Championship, the Midland boys varsity would line up for the MSAC Championship marking only the 2nd time they have raced on West Virginia soil this season. Their other 2 races were Elite Invitationals in Kentucky and Ohio. Jacob Burcham would lead his Knights in dominating fashion to the team title making it 11 MSAC titles in a row. Burcham would take the overall MSAC title for the 2nd year in a row and setting a New Course record in the process with a time of 15:55. His teammates would not disappointment coming in at 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, and 10th. These runners were Tyler Salmons, Jeremy Waugh, Avery Campbell, Jared King, Andrew Ferguson, and Ryan Smith all earning 1st team All MSAC. Making the 2nd team All MSAC were David Jobe and Mason Dino. The biggest question of the day; "Who will be Midland's Top 7 ?" Midland will be back in action next Thursday (October 21st) for the Regional Championship to be held at the Teays Valley Wave Park in Hurricane. The meet serves as the WV State Championship qualifier. Midland will be limited to 7 boy and girl runners for the Regional meet. Comments are closed.
