Cabell Midland proved Saturday that they were worthy of their Powerade FAB 50 Bubble team ranking. The Knights would face their toughest competition so far this season at the Trinity Invitational in Louisville, Ky on Saturday morning. Teams from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee, & West Virginia toed the starting line in hopes of running fast and proving that their state had the best runners. Jacob Burcham would lead the Knights with his 3rd place finish in a blistering 15:19, which is the fastest WV 5K this season. His time also ranks him the number #2 Sophomore in the nation less than 2 seconds off Jacob Thomson of Holy Cross 15:17+. Cabell Midland would finish 5th overall out of 55 teams and 415 runners. Following Burcham would be Tyler Salmons 16:06 (26th), Ryan Smith 16:26 (50th), Jeremy Waugh 16:31 (54th), Steven Egnatoff 16:37 (61st), Avery Campbell 16:54 (87th), and David Jobe 16:56 (92nd). In the Boys Open race, Mason Dino blitzed a 16:48 to finish 4th overall and lead his team to a 3rd place team finish. Following Dino was Andrew Ferguson 17:00 (12th), Eric Wooten 17:06 (15th), Jared King 17:29 (26th), Matthew Edmunds 17:56 (50th), Brian Lawhon 18:12 (61st), and Collin Cooper 18:52 (107th) to round out the top 7.
In the Girls Varsity race, Jorden Thornton ran a 19:40 to finish 36th overall in a stacked field. Following Thornton was Kelsey Dillon 21:01 (99th), Alex Ellis 21:08 (106th), Morgan Chittum 21:58 (162nd), Jorden Colliflower 22:52 (209th), and Clara Stephens 22:54 (211th). The girls would finish 17th overall out of 40 teams. In the Girls Open race, Abby Triplett led her team to 7th place overall in a time of 22:40 for 42nd place. Following Triplett would be Jess Hutchinson 22:51 (48th), Shelby Nelson 23:09 (60th), Casey Ellis 23:09 (61st), and Jamie Schussler 23:10 (62nd) to round out the top 5 runners. The crowds were big, the competition fierce and Saturday proved to be a great day for the Midland Cross Country Program with all, but one runner setting huge PR's this season. Midland will not be back in action for 2 weeks and will be gearing up for the Midwest Meet of Champions in Columbus on October 2nd. Comments are closed.
