Jorden Thornton and Jacob Burcham easily defended their title at the Bill Hill 2 mile invitational. Burcham posted a time of 9:40, while Thornton cruised to a 12:31.
This year's course had a slight change at the start for safety reasons. The race has gotten too big to start on the gravel path, so it was moved back 450 meters on the roadway. With the start moved back and a straight stretch to the lake, runners took off as the gun sounded. Burcham wasted no time heading to the front with Avery Campbell close behind. Burcham would cruise to a 9:40, with Campbell on 17 ticks back in 10:02. On the girls side, Thornton led wire to wire and was over 40 seconds ahead of 2nd place finisher, Hannah Morgan. The race attracted runners from Midland, Milton Middle Milton, Barbourville Middle, & local road racers. Bill Hill was on hand to start the race and hand out awards. Bill Hill has been a big supporter of the Midland Cross Country & Track Programs since the doors at Cabell Midland opened in 1994. The race is named in his honor. Comments are closed.
